Rotonda / Englewood

Rotaonda / EnglewoodRotonda West is situated on the warm waters of the Florida Gulf, in the town of Englewood which is about a 90 minutes drive from Tampa International Airport.

Tampa is serviced by many flights including a direct route from London with British Airways.

Forty minutes north is Sarasota. Fort Myers is the same driving time from the South. Here, at Fort Myers the South West Florida International Airport can be found. This services many domestic arrivals, direct routes, and international flights via USA eastern gateways. Both airports prove ideal choices for you destination.

Orlando is 2 1/2 hours drive from Rotonda, which is a good choice when choosing a twin centre holiday. Orlando has two international airports. Orlando International Airport is serviced by most transatlantic scheduled services, as well as flexible USA flight carriers. British Airways has direct flights from London to Orlando, Tampa and Miami. Virgin Atlantic also has direct flights from London to Orlando and Miami, including additional regional departures from Manchester and Glasgow. The charter flights mostly fly into Orlando Sanford Airport.

Englewood is a tranquil community close to Charlotte Harbour. The area is devised between Sarasota County to the north and Charlotte County to the south. Although the town of Englewood is easily accessible by the Interstate 75, life in Englewood is centred around Lemon Bay, and the Gulf waters. Englewood is known as the ‘Gem’ of the Florida Suncoast.

The beaches of Englewood are a 10 minute drive from Rotonda over two intercoastal
waterway drawbridges. They can be found on the barrier Islands of Manasota Key. The beaches include from the south: the state park of Stump Pass, Chadwick Park (Englewood beach) and Blind Pass beach. To the north, Manosota Key beach with a residential area of beach front properties that has a public beach section.

All the beaches have public facilities that include showers, car parks and rest rooms and some have BBQs and play areas.
Lemon Bay on the beach approach offers boat trips and charters, also salt water fishing and jet skis.

Further south of Manasota Key are Palm Island (Knight Island), Little Gaspirilla Island and Don Pedro Island. Onwards further south are Cayo Costa, and Cabbage Key. These Islands are only accessible by boat, and well worth a trip with a boat charter, or water taxi. Over a toll swing bridge to Gaspirilla Island, Boca Grande, a small town is to the south. This is an exclusive community with large residences, many belonging to the rich and famous. Boca Grande has an ‘historic light house’ museum and beautiful beaches.

At the Old Englewood historical district local restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and souvenir shops and boutiques can be found. On the main Englewood road (776), chain restaurants, supermarkets, other larger shops and community services are located. This is all 10 minutes drive from Rotonda.

There are golf courses located on Rotonda itself, with many more within easy reach around Englewood and Port Charlotte.

To the south, 30 minutes drive away is the town of  Port Charlotte, where the shopping is excellent. The town centre has a shopping mall and cinemas, good restaurants and  night life. Along with many more tourist attractions, Fisherman’s Village at Punta Gorda, is a short drive away.
